The World will be good,
 if you are good!
----------------------

I heard this story long ago from somebody. I am recollecting the same and penning down here.

In the outskirts of a village, called Gudem, two people were sitting in the shade of a tree – One was Shakeel, another was Nabeel. One traveler approached them, and asked Shakeel, “I want to settle down in this village. Please tell me, how are the people in this village?” Shakeel asked, “Where are you coming from, and why are you leaving that place?” The traveler said, “I am coming from a distant village called Hussainpur. All the people in that village are quarrelsome. So I have left that village. Tell me how the people in this village, Gudem, are, such that I can settle down here for life?” Shakeel told the traveler that people in Gudem also are equally bad, and you would better find some other place. Listening to this, the traveler left in search of some other village.
After some time there came another traveler, from Rampur. Incidentally, he was also in the same hunt, and asked Shakeel whether people of Gudem are good, such that he can settle down here. Shakeel asked the same question to this traveler also, “How are the people in your Rampur, where you are coming from?” He replied that the people in Rampur are very good and very co-operative. I want to shift because my wife died in Rampur. Her memories will continue to haunt me if I continue there; so I wanted to change the place. Then Shakeel said, “In Gudem also people are very nice and co-operative. You can come and settle here.” The second traveler left accepting the advice of Shakeel.
Then Nabeel asked Shakeel, “Both the people asked the same question to you, but for the first person you told that people in our village, Gudem, are bad, but for the second person you told that they are good and co-operative. Why so?” Shakeel replied, “The first person found his present-village-people to be bad because he was bad. So naturally he would be bad here also, so our people cannot be good to him. The second person found his village people to be good, because he is good. In our village also because he is good, he will find our people also to be good. Everywhere People will be good to you, if you are good. They will be bad, if you are bad.”

A Rejoinder
-----------------------------

Two religious persons from two different villages met, one was Shakeel and the other, Nabeel. Shakeel asked Nabeel, “Sir, what is the attitude of people in your village?” Nabeel said, “People in our village are very good. When God gives them something, they thank God. When He does not give them, they hold patience.”  Listening to this Shakeel said, “Sir, This is what the dogs in our village also do.”  Nabeel was taken aback, and asked Shakeel, “Please tell, then, what the attitude of people of your village is.” Shakeel said, “The people in our village give it to others, when God gives them. When God does not give, they hold patience.” Nabeel understood, and said, Indeed, people of your village are great.
